From
the Office of the Editor and Fan Club President
Introducing
The Atlanta Boxing Association’s President and Founder: Waymon
Harley AKA “Rock Crusher”. Rock Crusher has done more than
earned his name in the wonderful and exciting world of boxing
in Atlanta. The City of Atlanta deemed Sept. 10th, 1993 “Waymon
Harley Day” for the 1995 IBF/USBA (International Boxing Federation/
United States Boxing Association) convention for his exceptional
work in the boxing community at the exquisite Westin Peachtree
Plaza Hotel in downtown Atlanta. Those who keep up with boxing
remember the 1995 Convention headlines on 11-alive WXIA news.
Over 68 countries, not included the US, blessed this groundbreaking
convention. The Westin was filled with the big names of boxing,
such as Don King, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Bone
Crusher Smith, amongst many other top world fighters.
Everybody
from the champions, promoters, managers, trainers, ringer
girls, sponsors, networks, etc had the convention sparkled
with enthusiasm as history was in the making. Rock Crusher
was responsible for the Heavy Weight Championship fight of
Evander Holyfield vs Vaughn Beam on September 19th, 1998.
Without his dedication, this fight would not have been shared
live with the world on the great Showtime Cable Network. Our
great ABA President began the Mike “Iron” Tyson vs. Lennox
Lewis championship at Georgia Dome that was intended in 2002,
but was unreasonably unwelcome by Georgia Governor Roy Barnes.
Many other attempts have had interferences by any others who
do not have the vision and gusto to make Atlanta the powerhouse
for boxing that it should have already been. But do not fret…Atlanta
Boxing Time has come! Although it has been a rocky road, Rock
Crusher, being the ideal candidate with the knowledge, experience,
connections, and drive, will make Atlanta Boxing what it should
have been years ago. So forget about it, our time has come! |
