LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT OF ABA:

From the office of the ABA President: Waymon Harley

The time has finally come for Atlanta Boxing. The people of Atlanta along with supporters of this great sport of boxing will now have a home. This organization has been founded to support the professional boxing athlete as well as to help provide them with an outlet to perform and grow. Beyond that it is our desire to position Atlanta as one of the premier cities for boxing events and supporting shows and after events.

Among being the largest city in the southeast, Atlanta is a hub for national and international business and music and sports entertainment.  The sporting industry is vital and complete with teams in all major sports.

It is now time to share our 30 plus years in the boxing profession with our associates, such as the IBF/USBA (International Boxing Federations/United States Boxing Association) to help build Atlanta into the major boxing center that it is poised to be.

Our organization is working hard to bring major boxing events into the Atlanta metropolitan area and to bring in the 2007 IBF/USBA Convention to this great city of Atlanta.  We also plan to work with major world renowned promoters to help us bring shows and events to Philips Arena, the Georgia Dome and the Georgia World Congress Center.  Events that would have national and international coverage from networks such as HBO, Showtime, ESPN, etc.

Our local pro-boxers have been waiting a long time for a chance to fight in their own home town of Atlanta and I believe that Atlanta's boxing time has come.  Our concerted efforts will bring to fruition the many dreams of our local amateur and professional boxing athletes.

We don't have casino's, but we do have a greatly varying scope of entertainment for men and women to enjoy in and around Atlanta, and a transit system to help service them.

As the Atlanta Boxing Association president, my dream is for our city, the city of Atlanta and it's surrounding communities, to become a major force in the sport of boxing.  I dream of giving opportunity to the young athlete that has dreamed of becoming a contender and hoped to do it in his or her town of Atlanta.  To keep our local fighters active by placing them in larger boxing events and marketing their efforts.

I also believe that the ABA will be instrumental in helping raise finance for several different areas, such as; to help promoters the better promote their shows, support and market the local gyms and clubs, sponsor local amateur boxing, and to help promote the sport of boxing.

Once each month the ABA will publish and distribute a monthly newsletter to our membership.  We will also develop ongoing boxing seminars for our local metro business sector to learn how to get involved and to become business partners with boxing on all levels; promoters, managers, trainers, gyms, transportation, closed-circuit hosting, boxing fan club events, after fight parties, etc.

Come join with the Atlanta Boxing Association's effort and take full advantage of our membership and sponsorship opportunities.   Visit our website to see how you can join the excitement of boxing in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Boxing Association and I will always be open for comments and suggestions on how together we can better boxing in the community of Atlanta, Georgia.

"Atlanta Boxing Time Has Come"

Sincerely,

Waymon Harley
